Privacy policy
EllenVPN Free • Privacy and transparency Version 1.2 • October 8, 2026
EllenVPN Free is an independent VPN Gate and VPNBook client. VPNBook is for personal use; public distribution of this integration awaits provider permission. VPN Gate is an academic project at the University of Tsukuba. We are not affiliated with the providers and do not operate their VPN servers. The app is free, with no account, subscription or in-app purchases, and no advertising tracker.
Traffic And Logs
Device traffic passes through the selected third-party server. OpenVPN encrypts the connection from your device to that server. HTTPS is still needed to protect communication from the server to websites. VPN Gate retains connection logs for three months or longer, including source IP, times, server, traffic volume and destinations. Volunteer operators retain packet-header logs for at least two weeks. Records may be disclosed to authorities under the provider's policy. This service does not promise anonymity. https://www.vpngate.net/en/about_abuse.aspx
Local Data And Queries
Favorites, preferences, consent, server cache and VPN profiles stay in private device storage. Automatic backup is disabled. The VPN engine keeps local diagnostics that can contain IPs and timestamps. We do not upload your diagnostics to our own server. Catalog requests use HTTPS to www.vpngate.net, which receives your source IP. After connection, api.country.is receives the exit IP to report IP and approximate country; ipwho.is is a location fallback and api.ipify.org verifies only IP. We do not send advertising identifiers or your installed-app list. https://country.is/ https://ipwhois.io/privacy https://www.ipify.org/
Security And Limits
VPN Gate profiles require TLS 1.2 or later, the supplied CA, a server-purpose certificate with the name opengw.net, AES/ChaCha20 ciphers and disabled compression. Incompatible servers are refused. VPN Gate shares certificates between servers and does not authenticate a unique identity for each volunteer. Some servers use AES-CBC/SHA1 for compatibility; they do not offer the same cryptographic profile as a modern managed service. IPv4 traffic is routed through the tunnel. IPv6 is routed or blocked by the engine when unsupported. DNS is configured inside the tunnel. During connection setup, switching or interruptions, Android can use the original network. Enable Always-on VPN and Block connections without VPN in Android settings to block this. Blocking depends on Android and can prevent the initial catalog update. Listed countries and speeds are provider data. The app checks IP geolocation after connecting and reports discrepancies. No US server is guaranteed. Websites may block VPN IPs; unblocking is not guaranteed.
Your Choices
You can revoke consent by clearing app data or uninstalling, turn off automatic reconnection, remove favorites and disconnect at any time. Data kept by providers follows their policies.
Vpnbook — Personal Use
Source: https://www.vpnbook.com/freevpn/openvpn . Public credentials are retrieved over HTTPS before connecting and refreshed once after authentication failure. No registration or manual renewal is required. TLS 1.2 or later, CA validation, server purpose and the exact certificate name server.vpnbook.com are required. VPNBook states that it logs IP and connection time and deletes connection logs weekly. Free service is for personal use; public distribution permission is pending. https://www.vpnbook.com/contact
Ellendoc Promotion
Opening or reopening EllenVPN Free displays a CliniqAI promotion with an EllenDoc banner in the chosen language. You can close it immediately or use Back. Free VPN use does not require a purchase, installation or click. The banner is bundled locally, without an advertising network, advertising identifier or impression/click tracking. Choosing Discover EllenDoc opens the official com.cliniqai.ellendoc Google Play listing or a browser. Google and EllenDoc policies apply to that visit. We add no user identifiers, campaign parameters or tunnel data to the link. EllenDoc offers optional Premium purchases in its own app.
Website And Rights
This website uses no cookies, analytics or forms. Its hosting VPS is separate from VPN servers and does not receive tunnel traffic. The web server keeps technical access logs, including IP, time, requested path and browser information, for operation and security, with rotation and retention up to 14 days. If you email us, we use your message to answer your request. There is no app account. You can request information, access, correction or deletion of personal data held by CliniqAI using the contact below, subject to existing data and applicable legal obligations. Requests about VPN-provider logs must be addressed to those providers. Clearing app data or uninstalling deletes local app data; caches can be replaced during updates. Third-party services may process data in other countries. We will update this policy if providers or functionality change.
Licenses
EllenVPN Free incorporates OpenVPN for Android under GPL version 2 with upstream additional terms and the OpenSSL exception. Corresponding source code and notices accompany public distribution. AndroidX uses Apache 2.0. OpenVPN, OpenSSL, LZO, LZ4 and fmt retain their respective licenses. https://github.com/schwabe/ics-openvpn
